With the ever increasing popularity of charm bracelets, many entrepreneurs have jumped on the bandwagon and added their own creative designs and styles. The wildly popular Charm It bracelets are one example that make great birthday presents for girls.
Renee Levy, who started designing jewelry and hair accessories in grade school, adores charm bracelets. In 1993, she conceptualized her own line of girls’ accessories and founded High IntenCity Corporation with the mission of inspiring girls to express their individuality through creativity.
In 2000, the privately-owned company launched “Charm It,” a jewelry line for girls in their tweens and teens. The collection includes bracelets, necklaces and charms in various designs and colors, made from enamel, acrylic and anodized base metal. A Charm It bracelet comes with a lobster clasp and is a terrific choice if you’re looking for presents for tween girls.
The Charm It bracelet features different styles, which may be accessorized with small charms or worn just as it is. The chains comes in plain, pink, and rainbow colors while the link style features various designs such as peace signs, smileys, flowers, cupcakes and multicolored crystals. Other styles include double link, safety pin, and a multi-double link, among others. These bracelets really appeal to tween-aged girls and make delightful birthday presents girls will treasure for years.
Charm It jewelry also includes (not surprisingly) charms that may be added to a bracelet, necklace, or any other accessories. The collection features a variety of designs in rubber, enamel, resin, and acrylic base metal with themes ranging from animals, sports, symbols, ballet and dance, among others. If you’re looking for birthday presents for girls, try to pick charms that represent their interests or favorite things.
Many of the charms for Charm It bracelets come in three dimensional designs, while a few are interactive such as the treasure chest (which opens up to mini jewels inside), a robot (with movable legs and arms), a locket (you can add a photo inside), etc.
And the company continues to evolve—they have formed partnership agreements with Disney, Nickelodeon, and Sanrio for their special charm collections. Disney characters include Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Tinkerbell, Snow White, and Cinderella, while Sanrio features various Hello Kitty icons. They also developed a new brand line called “i CARE” collection to support their advocacy on girl empowerment. The collection includes pendants (with crystal accents), bracelets and necklaces with themes of love and peace. Part of the proceeds of sales goes to Girls Inc., a non-profit organization that is geared toward responding to the changing needs of girls and helps them “reach their full potential and to understand, value, and assert their rights.” You can’t get a much better birthday present for a girl than that.
Levy’s dedication and keen business sense even as a young student, along with very popular product lines, are perhaps the reasons why High IntenCity has been able to keep up with their success. Their accomplishments in their eighteen years in the business include expansion in the international market and being recognized as Global Magazine’s “Top 100 Global Licensees in 2007.” And Renee’s wish for girls to express their creativity came full circle last year when, for Charm It’s tenth anniversary, they held a contest where girls got to submit drawings for proposed new charms. 36 winners were chosen, and their charms are now available for sale on their website and in stores.
